The Music of Fela Kuti, Druid’s Penelope, Kneehigh’s The Red Shoes, and More Set for St. Ann’s Warehouse 2010-2011 Season

St. Ann’s Warehouse in DUMBO has announced programming for 2010-2011.

The season will open with The Music of Fela Kuti, featuring performers and band members from the Broadway musical Fela! This free concert will be presented on the panoramic Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 1 on Monday, October 4 at 6:30pm.

St. Ann’s will also present the Druid Theatre Company production of Enda Walsh’s Penelope, directed by Mikel Murfi (October 23-November 14), followed by Kneehigh Theatre’s The Red Shoes, based on the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen, as adapted and directed by Emma Rice (November 19-December 12).

The new year will begin with Daniel Kitson in his The Interminable Suicide of Gregory Church (January 6-30); Steve Cuiffo in Lenny Bruce at Carnegie Hall (February 4). Next will be composer Nico Muhuly’s Tell the Way, featuring Muhly, the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, guitarist Bryce Dessner, sitarist Bishi, and banjo/fiddle player Sam Amidon (February 10-12). The season will condluce with Beautiful Burnout, co-produced by Frantic Assembly and National Theatre of Scotland.
