Lance Bass, Deborah Cox, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Alice Ripley, et al. Set for Broadway in South Africa Benefit Concert

An updated list of participants has been announced for the third annual Broadway in South Africa benefit concert, to be held at Manhattan Center’s Grand Ballroom (311 West 34th Street), on Monday, October 4 at 7:30pm. The event will honor producer Michael Butler.

The evening will be directed by Jen Bender with music direction by Brad Haak. Shea Sullivan will choreograph and perform a tap piece set to live African drums.

The show will feature Lance Bass, Sean Bradford, Tituss Burgess, Chuck Cooper, Deborah Cox, Darius de Haas, Brandon Victor Dixon, Ariana Grande, Frankie James Grande, Emma Hunton, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Adam Kantor, Morgan Karr, Jose Llana, Tracy McDowell, Julia Murney, Graham Phillips, Alice Ripley, Kate Shindle, Christopher Spaulding, Lisa Nicole Wilkerson, and cast members from the Broadway hit Fela!

In addition, the event will feature a presentation by Sandra Thurman, AIDS Czar under President Bill Clinton and current President and CEO of International AIDS Trust.

Desmond Child, Julie Gold, Drew Gasparini, Marcy Heisler, Joe Iconis, Kait Kerrigan, Peter Lerman, Brian Lowdermilk, Jordan Mann, Catherine Porter, Jeremy Schonfeld, and Jeff Thomson will create songs based on essays and letters written by children that Broadway in South Africa teaching artists instruct, during workshops conducted in townships surrounding Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.
