Derek Keeling, Heather Laws Among MITF Award Winners

The winners of the Midtown International Theater Festival Tenth Anniversary Season Awards were announced at a ceremony on Monday, August 30 at New World Stages.

Broadway veterans Derek Keeling and Heather Laws received awards as lead actor and actress in a musical, respectively, for their work in the two-hander, Connect/Disconnect. Additional acting winners included Gabor Harsanyi (Prison Theater), Karen Irwin (Assholes and Aureoles), Duncan Pflaster (I Hate Love), and Grace Kiley (NeverCracked). In addition, the cast of I Hate Love received the award for Outstanding Ensemble Performance.

Outstanding Production of a Play went to Made in Heaven, while Outstanding Production of a Musical was awarded to That’s Showbiz! Outstanding Production of a Special Event was given to NeverCracked, while Kate Gersten won Outstanding Playwriting for a New Script for Exposed! The Curious Case of Shiloh and Zahara.
