British actors Bill Nighy and Andrew Scott will join previously announced star Julianne Moore in the world premiere production of David Hare’s The Vertical Hour. The show, which will be directed by Academy Award winner Sam Mendes, is set to begin performances at the Music Box Theatre on November 9 and to open officially on November 30.

Moore will portray Nadia, a war correspondent turned Yale professor who takes a brief holiday in Wales with her boyfriend (Scott). While there, she meets his father (NIghy), whose culture and beliefs challenges her way of thinking. Hare’s other plays include Amy’s View, Via Dolorosa, Plenty, and Stuff Happens. The show’s design team includes Scott Pask (sets), Ann Roth (costumes), and Brian MacDevitt (lighting).

A respected stage actor in Great Britain, Nighy is best known in the U.S. for his work in such films as Love Actually, The Girl in the Café, The Constant Gardener, and the recently released Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. Scott won an Olivier Award for his work in A Girl in a Car with a Man; his film and television credits include Dead Bodies and the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers.

Moore will make her Broadway debut in The Vertical Hour. In 2004, she received dual Oscar nominations for her work in The Hours and Far From Heaven. Among the many other films in which she has starred are Hannibal, An Ideal Husband, Magnolia, and The Hand That Rocks the Cradle. She was last seen on the New York stage in Vanya on 42nd Street.
