Off-Broadway Opening of Bare Postponed Indefinitely

It has just been announced that the planned Off-Broadway opening of the pop opera Bare in one of five theaters within the new Dodger Stages complex on West 50th Street has been postponed indefinitely.

The production had been scheduled to begin performances on October 27 after two previous delays. According to a press release issued this afternoon, “Some financial backing has fallen out and replacement capital could not be confirmed in time to keep to the current schedule. Theater 1 at Dodger Stages is being held for the show to allow production to resume as soon as possible. A revised schedule will be announced soon.”

With music by Damon Intrabartolo, lyrics by Jon Hartmere, Jr., and a libretto by Intrabartolo and Hartmere, Bare concerns the coming of age of a group of Catholic high school seniors. Originally produced in Los Angeles in 2000, the pop opera had a run this past spring at the American Theatre of Actors on West 54th Street.
