Sutton Foster, the Tony Award-winning star of Broadway’s Thoroughly Modern Millie, will perform in place of Lara Fabian in the Actors’ Fund of America’s upcoming benefit concert of Chess at Broadway’s New Amsterdam Theatre on Monday, September 22.

Fabian was originally announced for the central role of Florence but then switched parts with co-star Julia Murney — originally cast as Russian chess widow Svetlana — before withdrawing altogether.

In addition to Murney as Florence and Foster as Svetlana, Chess also stars Adam Pascal (Rent) as American chess champion Freddy and Josh Groban as his Russian rival Anatoly. Raúl Esparza, Jonathan Dokuchitz, and Norm Lewis have other featured roles in the concert.
