Donna Lynne Champlin will star in Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, a musical, which will be presented as part the 2011 New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF). The show, to be directed by Igor Goldin, will have a six-performance run at Signature Theatre’s Peter Norton Space beginning on September 29. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

Featuring music, lyrics, and book by Lindsay Warren Baker and Amanda Jacobs, the show focuses on Austen (played by Champlin) as she revisits her classic novel, and Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy’s romance comes to life with fresh eyes.

The production will feature choreography by Jeffry Denman, musical direction by Timothy Splain, set design by Josh Zangen, lighting design by Zach Blane, and costume design by Colleen Kesterson.

Champlin’s many Broadway credits include Billy Elliot, Sweeney Todd, By Jeeves, James Joyce’s The Dead and Hollywood Arms. She received an Obie Award for Dark at the Top of the Stairs and NYMF Outstanding Performance Awards for Flight of the Lawnchair Man and Love Jerry.
