Brian Stokes Mitchell and Elaine Paige will join the previously reported Kristin Chenoweth and Raúl Esparza for City Opera's spring gala on Thursday, April 21 at 8pm. Entitled Defying Gravity: The Music of Stephen Schwartz, the gala will feature a program of songs from Schwartz's acclaimed Broadway and film works. Victor Garber will host.

As previously announced, Lauren Flanigan will star in the New York premiere of Schwartz's Séance on a Wet Afternoon, based on the novel by Mark McShane and its 1964 film noir adaptation. That production will play April 19-May 1.

Schwartz will also appear on a panel of distinguished composers and playwrights on Sunday, April 10 at 7:30pm, along with Adam Guettel.
