Tony Award nominees Malcolm Gets and Helen Stenborg will star in Vigil, a new comedy by Morris Panych, to play the DR2 Theatre, September 20-November 22. The production, which will be directed by Stephen DiMenna, will open officially on September 29.

The play concerns a self-involved bachelor who ends up caring for his elderly aunt, whom he hasn’t seen in 30 years. While she’s supposedly dying, she isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Panych’s other plays include The Overcoat and The Trespassers.

The creative team includes Andromache Chalfant (sets), Ilona Somogyi (costumes), Ed McCarthy (lighting), and Greg Pliska (sound and original music).

Gets received a Tony Award nomination for Amour; his other credits include The Story of My Life, A New Brain, Merrily We Roll Along, and Finian’s Rainbow. Stenborg received a Tony Award nomination for Waiting in the Wings; her New York credits include The Crucible, A Month in the Country, Talley & Son, and Wit.
