Livent founder Garth Drabinsky has been sentenced to seven years in prison for accounting fraud which led to the company's collapse, according to a report in The Toronto Star. Drabinsky's business partner and co-defendant Myron Gottlieb was sentenced to six years. In March, the two men were convicted on two counts of fraud and one count of forgery.

Under Drabinsky's leadership, Livent became a theatrical production company with a world-wide reputation. Shows produced by the company include Ragtime, Show Boat, and Kiss of the Spider Woman, which won three Tony Awards including best musical.
