Freeman received a Tony Award nomination in 1978 for The Mighty Gents; his other Broadway credits include Purlie and The Gospel at Colonus. He won the Academy Award for his work in Million Dollar Baby and can currently be seen on the big screen in the latest Batman feature, The Dark Knight.
