The play tells the story of two competing "houses" of drag queens, and the loyalties and dreams which pull their members together and apart. McCraney's previous works include The Brothers Size and In the Red and Brown Water. He is the recipient of The Vineyard Theatre's first Paula Vogel Playwriting Award.
The cast will also include Jas Anderson, Joshua Cruz, Sean Patrick Doule, Angela Grovey, and McKenzie Frye. The creative team includes James Schutte (sets), Toni-Leslie James (costumes), Peter Kaczorowski (lighting), and Robert Kaplowtiz (sound).
Landau has directed the Vineyard's productions of Mary Rose and Dream True and is currently represented on stage by the Steppenwolf Theatre Company's production of Tracy Letts' Superior Donuts.
The Vineyard's 2008-2009 season will also include the New York premiere of The Civilians' new work This Beautiful City, to be presented in early 2009.
