Gary Beach will resume his Tony Award-winning role as gay director Roger De Bris in The Producers on September 6.

The actor most recently appeared as Albin in the revival of La Cage aux Folles, for which he earned a Tony Award nomination as Best Actor in a Musical. Previously, Beach was Tony-nominated for his performance as Lumière in Beauty and the Beast. His other credits include Doonesbury, The Moony Shapiro Songbook, and Annie.

Beach also plays De Bris in the film version of The Producers, which is scheduled for release on December 21. Directed by Susan Stroman, the movie co-stars Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, and Roger Bart — all of whom were in the show’s original cast with Beach — plus Uma Thurman and Will Ferrell.

The current Broadway cast of The Producers is headed by Brad Oscar as Max, Hunter Foster as Leo, John Treacy Eagan as Franz, Brad Musgrove as Carmen Ghia, and Angie Schworer as Ulla. The show opened on April 19, 2001.
