Claire Danes, the star of such movies as The Hours and Romeo + Juliet, will be the star of Christina Olson: American Model, a dance piece by Tamar Rogoff at PS 122 from September 22-October 2.

In this unusual solo piece, Danes — who first performed at P.S. 122 at the age of 6 — will play the woman who is the subject of Andrew Wyeth’s famous painting Christina’s World. The real-life Olson suffered from a never diagnosed muscular deterioriation that left her arms weak and her lower body paralyzed.

The piece will include music by Rachel’s, video by Harvey Want and Andrew Baker, costume by Liz Prince, and lighting by David Ferri.

Danes’ other film credits include Stage Beauty (which co-starred her boyfriend Billy Crudup), Igby Goes Down, and How to Make an American Quilt.
She is best known for the cult television series My So-Called Life.
