Prospect Theater Company to Host Reading of The Flood

The Prospect Theater Company has announced that it will present a one night only benefit concert reading of The Flood: A New Musical on Monday, August 11 at 7:30pm.

The Flood, with book, music, and lyrics by Peter Mills and Cara Reichel, debuted in 2001 at the Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center and starred Gavin Creel (Thoroughly Modern Millie), and was selected by composer Stephen Schwartz for the 2001 ASCAP Musical Theater Workshop. The story centers around the Mississippi River flood of 1993, the largest and most devastating in United States history.

Celia Keenan-Bolger (Little Fish, Sweeney Todd at the Kennedy Center) and Sebastian Arcelus (Rent) will join members of the original cast including Richard Todd Adams, Jennifer Blood, Larry Brustofski, Sarah Corey, Tom Evans, Dan Feyer, Joseph O’Brien, Carol Hickey, Mary Mossberg, Emily Whyte, Craig Wilson, Zach Wobensmith, and Simone Zamore.

The reading of The Flood will be held at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street), with a reception to follow at Caffe ShaSha (510 Hudson Street). Tickets to the event, which will be hosted by Stephen Bogardus (Man of La Mancha), and the reception range from $100-50 and may be purchased by calling Telecharge at 212-239-6200 or visiting www.telecharge.com, or by mail (Prospect Theater Company, 520 Eighth Avenue, Third Floor, Suite 307, New York, NY 10018).
