Actors’ Equity Association’s Eastern Regional Equal Employment Opportunity Committee presented the Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire with the organization’s Extraordinary Excellence in Diversity on Broadway Award for the 2011-2012 Season on Tuesday, July 17.
The award was presented to producers Stephen Byrd and Alia Jones-Harvey by co-chairs Christine Toy Johnson and Julia Breanetta Simpson. Also on hand were cast members Nicole Ari Parker, Carmen De Lavallade, Amelia Campbell, Jacino Taras Riddick, Count Stovall, former cast member Matthew Saldivar, and assistant stage manager Hilary Austin.
Directed by Emily Mann, the production, which runs at the Broadhurst Theatre through Sunday, July 22, also stars Blair Underwood, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Wood Harris, Rosa Arredondo, Teddy Cañez, Danielle Lee Greaves, J. Mallory-McCree, Aaron Clifton Moten, and Morocco Omari.
The creative team includes Terence Blanchard (original music), Camille Brown (choreography), Eugene Lee (set design), Edward Pierce (lighting design), Paul Tazewell (costume design), Mark Bennett (sound design), and Rick Sordelet (fight direction).
