Baryshnikov Arts Center Announces Fall 2012 Season

Baryshnikov Arts Center has announces the works that will be presented as part of its Fall 2012 season.

Among the theater-related pieces is the U.S. premiere of La Douleur (The War: A Memoir) (October 2-6), written by Marguerite Duras, performed by Dominique Blanc, and directed by Patrice Chéreau and Thierry Thieû Niang. The Bolshoi Puppet Theatre wil present the U.S. premiere of Kholstomer: The Story of a Horse (October 18-20), adapted from a Leo Tolstoy short story and directed by Ruslan Kudashov. Doug Elkins Choreography, Etc. (December 5-8) will present Mo(or)town Redux, the tale of Shakespeare’s Othello set to Motown music, and Scott, Queen of Marys, originally created in 1996 to showcase the talents of vogue and drag ball legend Willi Ninja.

Additional programming will include works from St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble (September 20-21); choreographer Raimund Hoghe and dancer Takashi Ueno (October 10-12); Malavika Sarukkai (November 1-3); International Contemporary Ensemble (November 2-3 and December 15).
