As previously reported, the movie, featuring former In the Heights star and American Idol champion Jordin Sparks in the title role and the late Whitney Houston as her mother, will be released on August 31.

The film, which is directed by Salim Akil, and his wife, Mara Brock Akil, tells the story of three sisters who go from their Harlem church choir and become a successful girl group, but have unhappy personal lives.

Among the artists featured on the 11 track album are both Sparks and Houston, along with Goapele, Carmen Ejogo, Tika Sumpter, and Cee Lo Green. The cast for the movie also includes Mike Epps, Omari Hardwick, and Derek Luke.
