Tony and Academy Award-winning director Mike Nichols will speak at the MacDowell Colony as playwright Edward Albee receives The Edward MacDowell Medal on Sunday, August 14 at 12:15pm. Also scheduled to appear is Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Michael Chabon, chairman of the Colony's board of directors.

Albee, who has won numerous Pulitzer Prizes and Tony Awards, has written such plays as The Zoo Story, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, A Delicate Balance, Seascape, Tiny Alice, The Play About the Baby, and Me, Myself, and I. The MacDowell Medal is given to an individual artist who has made an outstanding contribution to his/her field.

The award ceremony will begin an afternoon-long celebration at the Colony which will also include tours of current artists-in-residence open studios, and a performance resulting from this year's Make Art collaboration with Andy's Summer Playhouse.
