Harlem Stage Announces Fall 2011 Programming

Harlem Stage has announced its fall 2011 programming.

Among the venue’s theater-related offerings will be two presentations of the WeDaPeoples cabaret. Samita Sinha will curate the September 15 installment of this series, which presents artists of multiple disciplines. The September 17 installment will be curated by Carl Hancock Rux and feature performances by Nona Hendryx, Reno and Nelson George. Harlem Stage also plans to present a performance of Vijay Iyer, Mike Ladd, and Maurice Decaul’s work-in-progress Holding It Down: The Veterans Dreams Project for its members on September 21.

The Harlem Stage schedule also includes Visible (October 10-15), a work co-choreographed by Nora Chipaumire and Jawole Willa Jo Zollar; and musical performances from the Christian Scott Quartet (October 28-29), The Miguel Zenón Quartet (November 10), and Imani Uzuri (December 10), among others.

In addition, Harlem Stage’s Family Series will include a presentation of Shine and the Moonbeams, a performance that combines classic soul, jazz and hip hop, on October 22; and ¡Parranda!, a holiday-themed event featuring Puerto Rican and Afro-Caribbean music and dance from Zon del Barrio and Danza Fiesta, on December 17.
