Oprah Winfrey’s Life to Receive Movie Treatment

Actress, producer, and talk show superstar Oprah Winfrey will be the subject of a forthcoming movie that Larry A. Thompson is adapting from the biography on Winfrey, entitled Oprah, and written by Kitty Kelley.
Winfrey produced the Broadway musical The Color Purple. She is best known as the host of the Emmy Award-winning The Oprah Winfrey Show and has acted in film and television, most notably as Sofia in the film version of The Color Purple.
No casting has been announced, although Thompson says that he is “planning to audition both known and unknown actresses” for the role of Oprah.
