Tony Management Committee Eliminates Press From Tony Voting Pool

The Tony Awards Management Committee has decided that members of the so-called First Night Press List will no longer be allowed to vote for the Tony Awards. The new rule, which is effective as of this season, affects approximately 100 journalists, who represent approximately 13 percent of the former voting pool.

As a result of the decision, the remaining Tony voters will predominantly be theater producers, theaters owners, publicists, actors, writers, designers and members of various Broadway theater unions and committees.
