Theatre for a New Audience has announced three selections for its 2009-2010 season, which will mark the company’s 30th anniversary. All shows will be performed at the at The Duke on 42nd Street.

The TFANA season will begin with the New York premiere of Orpheus X (December 2-20), featuring original music and text by Rinde Eckert, and direction by Robert Woodruff. The piece reimagines Orpheus as a rock star who trades in the lyre for an electric guitar. It will feature Eckert, Suzan Hanson, and John Kelly in addition to a live band of piano, guitar, viola, percussion, and bass.

The season will continue with Arin Arbus’ production of Measure for Measure (February 6-March 14), and Peter Brook’s Love Is My Sin (March 27-April 17), his adaptation of Shakespearean sonnets, which will star Brook’s wife, Natasha Parry, and Bruce Myers. TFANA also plans to present a Brooks-helmed production of Samuel Beckett’s Fragments during the 2010-2011 season.

In addition, TFANA is in discussions with commercial producers to bring back its critically acclaimed productions of Othello and Hamlet. As previously announced, its production of Othello (with a revised cast) plays Seattle’s Intiman Theatre, this month.
