New Denver Civic Theatre, Original Home to Brooklyn, the Musical, Sold

The New Denver Civic Theatre, a 23-year-old performing arts complex which was home to the pre-Broadway engagement of Brooklyn, the Musical and a tryout of the musical Hats, has been purchased by Colorado businessman Craig Lindsley, according to The Denver Post.

Lindsley envisions using the venue, not for theater, but rather for a variety of musical events from jazz and bluegrass to metal and country. He is also working to form a consortium of nonprofit community organizations that will share in the use of the space, which includes a 325-seat mainstage and a 100-seat cabaret in addition to an art gallery.

The theater has been on the market since its previous owner, Zbigniew “Greg” Mania, went into bankruptcy earlier this year.
