The Pirate Queen is directed by Frank Galati. Stephanie J. Block has the title role, and the cast also includes Linda Balgord, Hadley Fraser, Jeff McCarthy, Marcus Chait, and William Youmans. The ensemble consists of Nick Adams, Richard Todd Adams, Caitlin Allen, Sean Beglan, Timothy W. Bish, Jerad Bortz, Troy Edward Bowles, Grady McLeod Bowman, Rachel Bress, Don Brewer, Kimilee Bryant, Alexis Ann Carra, Áine Uí Cheallaigh, Noelle Curran, Bobbie-Ann Dunn, Brooke Elliott, Christopher Garbrecht, Eric Hatch, Cristin J. The Pirate Queen has choreography by Mark Dendy, set design by Eugene Lee, costume design by Martin Pakledinaz, and lighting design by Kenneth Posner. John Dempsey has contributed lyrics, and the score has been orchestrated by Julian Kelly. The musical is based on the real-life story of the legendary Grace O'Malley, also known as Grania, who led an extraordinary life as a pirate chieftain, lover, and mother in 16th-century Ireland.
Boublil and Schönberg previously collaborated on Les Misérables, Miss Saigon, and Martin Guerre. Galati won a Tony Award for his work on The Grapes of Wrath and received a Tony nomination for Ragtime. Dendy most recently choreographed Miracle Brothers; his other credits include Taboo and the Off-Broadway production of The Wild Party.
