Award-winning actor Dakin Matthews will join the members of Culture Clash — Richard Montoya, Rick Salinas, and Herbert Siguenza — for the world premiere of Montoya’s new play Water & Power, July 27-September 17 at the Mark Taper Forum. The prodcution, to be directed by Lisa Peterson, will open officially on August 6.

The show will also star Mateo Arias, Moises Arias, Emilio Rivera, and Winston J. Rocha.
The creative team will include Rachel Hauck (sets), Christopher Acebo (costumes), Alexander V. Nichols (lighting), and Paul James Prendergast (sound design).

The play concerns a pair of Chicano brothers named Water and Power; the former becomes a successful politician, while the latter becomes a top-ranking lieutenant in the Los Angeles Police Department. On one rainy, dangerous night in a run-down hotel, both of their careers may come crashing down.

Matthews co-starred in and adapted the Lincoln Center Theater production of Henry IV, for which he won a Drama Desk Award. He received L.A. Drama Critics Circle Awards for his work in The School for Wives and Shadowlands, and he wrote and starred in The Prince of L.A., for which he won a special award from the same group. He was most recently seen in the South Coast Rep production of Hitchock Blonde.
