Buckley, Cariou, Durning, Sills, Sparks, et al. Set for Hollywood Bowl’s Sunset Blvd. Reading

Betty Buckley, Len Cariou, and Douglas Sills will respectively play Norma Desmond, Max von Mayerling, and Joe Gillis in the Hollywood Bowl’s all-star staged reading of Billy Wilder’s Sunset Blvd. at 7:30pm on Sunday, August 6. The event will feature the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra playing Franz Waxman’s Oscar-winning score for the film.

Also in the cast are James Cromwell as Sheldrake, Bruce Davison as Morino, Charles Durning as L.A. Captain, Daisy Egan as Connie, Frederic Forrest as B.H. Captain, Ken Howard as Repo Man, Alan Johnson as Hog Eye, Jean Louisa Kelly as Betty Schaefer, Tom McGowan as First A.D., Conrad John Schuck as Cecil B. DeMille, Hal Sparks as Artie Green, Holland Taylor as Hedda Hopper, J. Todd Adams as the Cop, Tom Costello as the Guard, and Ted Heyck as Jonesy. Peter Hunt will direct the reading.

Buckley played Norma Desmond in the Broadway musical Sunset Boulevard. Among her many other accomplishments, she is a Tony Award winner for Cats. Cariou, a three-time Tony nominee, took home the trophy for Sweeney Todd. Sills has starred on Broadway in The Scarlet Pimpernel, for which he received a Tony nomination, and Little Shop of Horrors.
