Academia Nuts to Be Featured During the New York Musical Theatre Festival

The new musical Academia Nuts will be featured during the first week of the New York Musical Theatre Festival, with performances from July 9-13 at The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center.

Academia Nuts has a book and lyrics by Becca Anderson and Dan Marshall, and music by Julian Blackmore, with direction by Thomas Caruso, musical direction by Martyn Axe, and choreography by Ryan Kasprzak. In the show, brainiac Maggie McCutter hopes to win a scholarship at the National High School Quizbowl Championship so she can escape her controlling mother. Her world is turned upside down when she falls for Tyler O'Neil, a football-loving opponent from a rival team.

The cast will include Alyse Alan Louis, Alison Lea Bender, Todd Cerveris, Stephanie D'Abruzzo, Khris Davis, Alexander Ferguson, Melody Madarasz, Will Roland, and Jennifer Simard.

The creative team features James J. Fenton (scenic design), Sam Gordon (lighting design), Patricia Doherty (costume design), Andrew Keister (sound design), and Bryan Prywes (props design).
