Will Ethan Hawke Tackle Shakespeare’s Macbeth on Broadway This Fall?
Ethan Hawke, who received a 2007 Tony Award nomination for his performance as Russian revolutionary Michael Bakunin in Tom Stoppard’s The Coast of Utopia, will return to Broadway this fall in the title role of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Entertainment Weekly reports. The revival is expected to be produced under the auspices of Lincoln Center Theater, though representatives for the organization could not confirm the magazine’s report.
The production would be the second 2013 revival of Macbeth seen on Broadway. The first, starring Alan Cumming, Jenny Sterlin, and Brendan Titley, is currently running at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre through July 14. It would join a Shakespeare-heavy Broadway season that includes previously announced productions of Romeo and Juliet, Twelfth Night, and Richard III.
