Dolly Parton Sings 9 to 5: The Musical Songs on New CD, Better Day

Dolly Parton’s new CD, Better Day, features four songs from her score for 9 to 5: The Musical. The recording, from Dolly Records, is now available for purchase and digital download.

The Grammy Award-winning performer not only offers her own versions of “I Just Might,” “Shine Like the Sun,” “Get Out and Stay Out” and “Let Love Grow” from the musical, but also such songs as “In the Meantime,” “Together You and I” and “Just Leaving,” along with the title track.

Parton starred in the original film version of the movie Nine to Five and received an Academy Award nomination for the film’s title song. In addition, she earned a second Oscar nomination for her song “Travelin’ Thru” for the movie Transamerica. She received a 2009 Tony Award nomination for Best Original Score for 9 to 5: The Musical.

9 to 5: The Musical is currently playing an engagement at the Toronto Centre for the Arts as part of a North American tour.
