Cheadle received an Academy Award nomination for his performance in in the 2004 movie Hotel Rwanda, which focused on the Rwandan genocide in 1994 that claimed the lives of more than 500,000 people. Among his many other screen credits are Ocean's Twelve, Traitor and Crash. On stage he's been seen in productions of Cymbeline and Topdog/Underdog at the Public Theater.
