TheaterMania’s Scott Siegel, creator and host of the acclaimed Broadway by the Year series, has just announced the cast of Broadway Unplugged. A concert of Broadway songs performed without amplification, the event will take place at The Town Hall on Monday, September 27, beginning at 8pm.

Among the stars scheduled to perform are Christine Andreas, Michael Cerveris, Chuck Cooper, B.J. Crosby, Darius de Haas, Davis Gaines, Debbie Gravitte, Cady Huffman, Marc Kudisch, Jeff McCarthy, Howard McGillin, Euan Morton, Julia Murney, Emily Skinner, Mary Testa, Tom Wopat, and Karen Ziemba.

“We’ve been averaging about six songs off-mike during each Broadway by the Year concert and they invariably stop the show,” said Siegel. “Clearly, there is a hunger for this kind of heroic, unadorned performance. And not only does the audience clearly love to hear songs performed this way, the singers love doing it, as well. I don’t expect Broadway to suddenly throw its microphones away but I hope this concert will send the message that audiences want to hear a more natural sound.”

Tickets for the concert range in price from $25 to $50 and may be purchased by calling 212-307-4100 or by visiting www.unplugged.theatermania.com. Tickets may also be ordered by mail: Checks should be made out to Siegel & Siegel Ltd. and sent along with a stamped, self-addressed envelope to Scott Siegel, P.O. Box 20340, NY, NY 10017. (The Town Hall box office will begin selling tickets after Labor Day.) A limited number of post-show cast party tickets are available for $50 per person through Siegel & Siegel Ltd. only.
