The critically acclaimed revival of Roger O. Hirson and Stephen Schwartz’s Pippin has announced plans for a national tour that will kick off at the Buell Theatre in Denver in September 2014. The production features direction by Diane Paulus, choreography by Chet Walker in the style of Bob Fosse, and circus creation by Gypsy Snider. It is now playing at Broadway’s Music Box Theatre.

Pippin, a coming-of-age story about a young prince who seeks to find his place in the world with the help of a mysterious group of performers, is nominated for ten Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical and Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role (Patina Miller).

The current Broadway cast features Matthew James Thomas as Pippin, Patina Miller as Leading Player, Terrence Mann as Charlemagne, Charlotte d’Amboise as Fastrada, Rachel Bay Jones as Catherine, and Tony Award winner Andrea Martin as Berthe.

The original production of Pippin, which was directed by Bob Fosse, premiered on Broadway in 1972 and won five Tony Awards. This new production made its debut at American Repertory Theater and includes the same beloved Broadway standards, including “Corner of the Sky,” “Magic To Do,” “Glory,” and “Love Song.”
