Broadway to Dim its Lights Tonight in Memory of Lena Horne

By Dan Bacalzo • May 11, 2010 • New York City
The marquees of Broadway theaters in New York will be dimmed tonight, at 7pm for exactly one minute, in memory of Lena Horne, who passed away on May 9 at the age of 92.

In a statement, Charlotte St. Martin, Executive Director of The Broadway League, commented, "Lena Horne was a national treasure who broke through racial barriers with the gift of her voice. Her contributions to Broadway were bright, and her legendary talent contributed significantly to the movie musical genre."
