The Atlantic Theater Company has announced the selections for its 2007-2008 season, which will include world premieres by Annie Baker, Jez Butterworth, Ethan Coen, Peter Parnell, and Lucy Thurber, and the New York premiere of Conor McPherson's Port Authority.

The Atlantic Main Stage season will launch with Thurber's Scarcity (August 29-October 14), which tells the tale of two siblings whose aspirations to escape the poverty of their small-town life in rural Massachusetts comes into direct conflict with their sense of family responsibility.

It will be followed by Parnell's Trumpery (November 14-December 30), which focuses on Charles Darwin and an unknown explorer who is coming up with the same theory of natural selection; Butterworth's Parlour Song (February 28-March 30), directed by Neil Pepe, about a demolitions expert who suspects his wife is cheating on him.

The mainstage season concludes with Port Authority (April 30-June 22), directed by Henry Wishcamper, which weaves the stories of three generations of Irishmen as they experience loss, failure, and the elusiveness of love. McPherson's previous work includes The Weir and Shining City.

The Atlantic Stage 2 season will launch in January 2008 with Pepe's production of Three Short Plays by Ethan Coen, written by the Oscar-winning screenwriter and filmmaker. In May 2008, the Atlantic will present Baker's Body Awareness, directed by Karen Kohlhaas, about a radical photographer who shakes up a bucolic college campus.
