The Playhouse's summer season will begin with Ron Hutchinson's Moonlight and Magnolias (June 19-July 1) about the making of Gone With the Wind. Oscar, best known for his work in The Producers, will star under the direction of James Brennan.
Up next, Uggams, a Tony Award winner for her work in Hallelujah, Baby!, will star in a revised version of the John Kander-Fred Ebb-Terrence McNally musical The Rink (July 3-15). The production will be directed by Michael Unger and feature choreography by Jennifer Lee. The classic musical Guys and Dolls follows (July 17-29) with a cast led by Broadway veterans Emick, Graae, and Larsen. The production will be directed by Mark Martino and feature choreography by John McGinnis.
Amy Freed's clever The Beard of Avon -- which explores the question of whether William Shakespeare really wrote all his plays -- arrives next (July 31-August 12), directed by Russel Treyz. Mills, a Tony nominee for 1960's Five Finger Exercise and star of the NBC daytime drama Passion will head the cast.
As the season winds down, Dvorsky and Mayes will reunite for a production of their popular Off-Broadway musical Pete 'n' Keely (August 14-26), about the fictional reunion of a pair of former TV stars. Last up is A.R. Gurney's comedy Sylvia, (August 28-September 9), directed by Pamela Hunt. Dano, a Daytime Emmy Award winner for Another World and Colleen Quinlan head the cast.
