Crystal, Berlind, Newman, and McGuire To Be Honored at Actors’ Fund Gala

Billy Crystal — star of the hugely successful autobiographical solo Broadway show 700 Sundays — will receive The Actors’ Fund of America’s artistic achievement award at the organization’s annual gala, to be held on Monday, May 23, 2005 at Cipriani (110 East 42nd Street) in NYC.

Titled “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” the black-tie event will also honor producer Roger Berlind (award to be presented by Brian Stokes Mitchell); Phyllis Newman, veteran performer and founder of The Actors’ Fund’s Women’s Health Initiative (award to be presented by Liz Smith); and John McGuire of SAG (award to presented by Melissa Gilbert and Larry Keith). There will be a special tribute to this season’s Tony Award nominees, and the entertainment portion of the evening will feature Neil Sedaka performing several of his hits plus a Broadway Sings Sedaka tribute with an all-star cast.
