Plays by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, Sylvan Oswald Set for Soho Rep’s Work-in-Progress Presentations

Soho Rep has announced the plays that will be featured in its upcoming work-in-progress presentations in April and May.

Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ An Octoroon will be presented at The New Ohio Theatre on April 27 and 28 at 4pm. The work explodes Irish playwright Dion Boucicault’s 1859 melodrama into the 21st century. British playwright/director Mark Ravenhill will direct.

Pam MacKinnon will direct Sylvan Oswald’s Profanity at the Robert Moss Theater on May 17 at 7pm and May 18 at 4pm. Set in 1950s North Philadelphia, the paly brings us grimy real estate deals, lapsed Jews, and visions of Old Europe set to Rogers and Hammerstein and Tito Puente.

All presentations are free and open to the public. Reservations are required, and can be made by e-mailing rsvp@sohorep.org.
