Joy Behar will host Stand up for Madeline & Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, the eighth annual comedy tribute to Madeline Kahn, to be held at Caroline’s on Broadway on May 4 at 6:30 pm.

Performers will include Mike Birbiglia, Mike DeStefano, Jim Gaffigan, Bernadette Pauley, and special surprise guests.

Kahn won a Tony Award for The Sisters Rosensweig, and was also Tony-nominated for Boom Boom Room, On the Twentieth Century, and Born Yesterday. She is perhaps best known for her film roles in Paper Moon, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein and What’s Up Doc? as well as her television role on Cosby. In early 1999, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and publicly announced her disease in an effort to raise awareness so that more women could be diagnosed at earlier stages. She died in December of that year at the age of 57, and her surviving husband, John W. Hansbury, joined the OCRF Board of Directors and together with OCRF, to create the now annual “Stand up for Madeline” comedy event in tribute to his late wife and to raise money for OCRF.
