Young Frankenstein Leads Outer Critics Nominations

Nominations for the 2007-2008 Outer Critics Circle Awards were read out by Sandy Duncan and Karen Ziemba this morning at the Algonquin Hotel. The winners of the awards, to be presented in 23 categories, will be announced on Monday, May 12, with the awards ceremony to take place at Sardi’s on Thursday, May 22.

The awards were led by the Mel Brooks musical Young Frankenstein, with 10 nominations including Outstanding New Broadway Musical. Other shows picking up multiple nominations include Les Liaisons Dangereuses (9), South Pacific (8), Gypsy (6), Sunday in the Park With George (5), Adding Machine (4), and three apiece for August: Osage County, The 39 Steps, Cry-Baby The Musical, Next to Normal, Come Back, Little Sheba, and The Homecoming.

Glory Days was the only Broadway production the Nominating Committee did not get to see prior to the OCC Award cut-off date. The new musical will be considered for next year’s awards.
