If you give them a movie star, they will come! Fans, photographers, and even some critics went ape as Julia Roberts made her Broadway debut last evening in a revival of Richard Greenberg’s Three Days of Rain at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. In his review of the show for TheaterMania, David Finkle wrote: “Whether speaking or observing, Roberts has use of that mobile face the camera loves; and even without the benefit of close-ups, she can be seen constantly registering truthful responses to what’s going on.” Here’s a photo of the lovely Roberts at Cipriani for the show’s after-party.
Three Days of Rain has a gorgeous cast, to say the least. Here are shots of Roberts’s two co-stars: Paul Rudd, whose stage credits range from Twelfth Night to bash to The Last Night of Ballyhoo…
…and Bradley Cooper, well known for his roles on TV’s Kitchen Confidential and Alias, and for his appearances in such films as Wedding Crashers and Failure to Launch.
Among the many notables on hand for the show: the ever-lovely Susan Sarandon…
…Sopranos star James Gandolfini…
…Oprah Winfrey, producer of the Broadway hit The Color Purple…
…sexy celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito…
…Broadway veteran Joel Grey…
…Marcia Gay Harden, who appears in the film American Dreamz, opening this weekend…
…Six Feet Under star Michael C. Hall, recently seen in the Roundabout Theatre Company production of Mr. Marmalade…
…film and theater star Kristen Johnston, last seen on the New York stage in The Baltimore Waltz…
…Mike Nichols and Diane Sawyer, just your average couple…
…Dave Matthews, without his band…
…the inimitable Elaine Stritch…
…and Mario Cantone, who’s always good for a laugh.
