Marc Kudisch and Judy Kaye to Headline Reprise! Production of Zorba

Marc Kudisch, Judy Kaye, Stan Chandler and Camille Saviola will star in the Reprise! Broadway’s Best production of the musical Zorba, to run May 2-14 at the UCLA Freud Playhouse. The production will be directed by David Lee, with choreography by Dan Mojica and musical direction by Gerald Sternbach.

With a book by Joseph Stein, based on the movie Zorba the Greek, the show has a score by John Kander and Fred Ebb. It originally opened on Broadway in 1968 and played more than 300 performances, receiving eight Tony Award nominations including Best Musical and Best Actor for Herschel Bernardi. A 1983 Broadway revival, starring Anthony Quinn, ran for more than 360 performances and earned a Tony for featured actress Lila Kedrova.

The Reprise! cast also includes Paul Avedisian, Danny Bolero, Marc Cardiff, Suzanne Carlton, Venny Carranza, Sascha Childers, Robert Alan Clink, Gayle Dawn Comins, Mark Esposito, Susannah Hall, Lesli Margherita, Chris Prinzo, Eddy Rioseco, Michael Uribes, Lisuan Whittingham, Vincent Zamora, and Kristine Zbornik. The show will feature set design by Evan A. Bartoletti, lighting design by Tom Ruzika, sound design by Phil Allen, and costume design by Heather Carleton.

Kudisch, who will play Zorba, is a two-time Tony Award nominee for Thoroughly Modern Millie and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Kaye, who will play Hortense, won a Tony Award for her performance as Carlotta in The Phantom of the Opera and recently starred on Broadway in Souvenir. Chandler, who will play Niko, was seen on Broadway in Cabaret and created the role of Jinx in Forever Plaid. Saviola, who will play The Leader, has starred on Broadway in Nine and Chicago.
