Hines, Huber, Kirk, Lanier, et al. Set for 5th Avenue’s Pippin

Jim Gall, Mimi Hines, Louis Hobson, Kim Huber, Keith Byron Kirk, and Jane Lanier will headline the 5th Avenue Theatre production of Pippin, May 2-21. The production, to be directed and choreographed by David Armstrong, will open officially on May 5.

Pippin, which has a score by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Roger O. Hirson, tells the story of the spiritual quest of the son of King Charlemagne. The original Broadway production won five Tony Awards.

The show’s cast will also include Collin Morris, Scott Brateng, Eric Brotherson, Kari Lee Cartwright, Daniel Cruz, Marc delaCruz, Bernadette Havok, Jayme McDaniel, Stacee Nault, Matt Owen, Maya RS Perkins, Tanesha Ross, Pamela Turpen, and Troy L. Wageman. The creative team includes Tom Sturge (set and lighting design), Bradley Reed (costume design), and Kurt Fischer (sound design).

Gall, who will play Charlemagne, is appearing in the 5th Avenue production of Wonderful Town. Hines, who will play Berthe, starred on Broadway in Funny Girl. Hobson, who will play Pippin, has starred in 10 previous productions at 5th Avenue, including Miss Saigon and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Huber, who will play Catherine, starred on Broadway in Beauty and the Beast and Sunset Boulevard. Kirk, who will portray The Leading Player, has starred on Broadway in The Piano Lesson and The Grapes of Wrath. Lanier, who will play Fastrada, received a Tony Award nomination for Jerome Robbins’ Broadway and starred on Broadway in Fosse and Sweet Charity.
