High Fidelity, a new musical comedy based on the best-selling novel of the same title by Nick Hornby (later a popular film by Touchstone Pictures), will have a pre-Broadway run at the Colonial Theatre in Boston this fall prior to beginning previews on Broadway in late November and opening in early December at a theater to be announced.

The show has a score by Tom Kitt and Amanda Green, and a book by David Lindsay-Abaire. It is being produced by Jeffrey Seller, Robyn Goodman and Kevin McCollum, the trio who produced Avenue Q, winner of the 2004 Tony Award for Best Musical. Walter Bobbie will direct the production, which is described as “a romantic musical comedy that follows the adventures of Rob, a record store owner who knows almost everything about pop music but almost nothing about how to hang onto a girl.”

High Fidelity will feature choreography by Christopher Gattelli, set design by Anna Louizos, costume design by Theresa Squire, lighting design by Ken Billington, and sound design by Acme Sound Partners. The show will play at the Colonial in Boston from September 26 through October 22, 2006.
