The New York Philharmonic presented a concert Anywhere I Wander: The Frank Loesser Songbook as part of its 2012 Spring Gala on Monday, March 26 at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center.
The Philharmonic was conducted by Ted Sperling, who directed the concert. Andrew Palermo was the associate director and choreographer.
Guest performers included John Bolton, Ann Hampton Callaway, Victoria Clark, Jason Danieley, Bernard Dotson, Marc Kudisch, Robert Morse, Michael Seelbach, Bryn Terfel, Mary Testa, and Jo Sullivan Loesser.
The concert featured selections from Loesser’s Broadway musicals, Where’s Charley?, Guys and Dolls, The Most Happy Fella, Greenwillow, and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, the film Hans Christian Andersen, among other songs.
Highlights included “Joey, Joey, Joey,” “Rosabella,” “My Heart Is So Full of You,” “Anywhere I Wander,” “Adelaide’s Lament,” “Never Will I Marry,” “I Wish I Didn’t Love You So,” “I Believe in You,” “Spring Will Be a Little Late This Year,” and “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.”
