Burton, Hurt, Strathairn, and Walker to Perform Hekabe at the 92nd Street Y
A Canadian poet and classicist, Carson became the first woman to win the T.S. Eliot Prize for Poetry in 2002. Her poems and translations have been widely embraced and her book Eros the Bittersweet recently turned up in an episode of Showtime’s The L Word.
Directed by Kathryn Walker, the 92nd Street Y Poet’s Theatre production of Hekabe will be fully staged. Walker will play the title role; Burton will play Hekabe’s surviving daughter, Polyxena; Strathairn will play Talthybios, the messenger; and Hurt will play the Chorus of Trojan Women. Other cast members are yet to be announced.
