Burton, Hurt, Strathairn, and Walker to Perform Hekabe at the 92nd Street Y

By New York City
On Monday, March 29, at 8pm, the 92nd Street Y Poets' Theatre -- a series presented by the 92nd Street Y Unterberg Poetry Center -- will offer the world premiere of Anne Carson's new translation of Euripides's Hekabe (Hecuba) with a cast including Kate Burton, Mary Beth Hurt, David Straithairn, and Kathryn Walker. Carson will introduce the evening.

A Canadian poet and classicist, Carson became the first woman to win the T.S. Eliot Prize for Poetry in 2002. Her poems and translations have been widely embraced and her book Eros the Bittersweet recently turned up in an episode of Showtime's The L Word.

Directed by Kathryn Walker, the 92nd Street Y Poet's Theatre production of Hekabe will be fully staged. Walker will play the title role; Burton will play Hekabe's surviving daughter, Polyxena; Strathairn will play Talthybios, the messenger; and Hurt will play the Chorus of Trojan Women. Other cast members are yet to be announced.

All tickets are $16. The Y is located on Lexington Avenue at 92nd Street. For reservations or further information, call 212-415-5500 or visit www.92y.org.
