Signature Theatre Company Honors Tony Award Winner David Henry Hwang

Signature’s annual gala drew in Tony Award winner Edward Albee, John Guare, Billy Porter, B.D. Wong, and more.

Signature Theatre Company honored Tony Award winner David Henry Hwang (M. Butterfly) at their annual gala on Monday. Hwang is the playwright in residence at Signature’s Residency One, which is a program that produces a series of plays from the body of work of one accomplished writer – over the course of one year. Signature Theatre produced Hwang’s play Golden Child in the fall and is currently presenting The Dance and the Railroad, which opens on February 25. His newest work is Kung Fu, which will be presented at Signature Theatre in early 2014.

Hwang’s friends and colleagues were present at the gala to celebrate his work. The guests included: Tony Award winner B.D. Wong (M. Butterfly), Danielle Skrastaad, David Conrad, and Janie Brookshire of the upcoming production of Langford Wilson’s The Mound Builders, and more.
