Jeremy Jordan (Newsies), and Wicked alums Norm Lewis, Jennifer Laura Thompson, and Julia Murney will join The New York Pops in celebrating the 65th birthday of composer Stephen Schwartz and the 10th anniversary of his musical Wicked with The Wizard and I: The Musical Journey of Stephen Schwartz. The event will take place on April 12 at Carnegie Hall.
Music director Steven Reineke will conduct the evening's concert, which will feature highlights from some of Schwartz's most beloved works. Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA, a New York choral ensemble that brings together seasoned professionals and auditioned volunteers, will also perform at the event.
Based on a novel by Gregory Maguire and set in Oz, Wicked is the story of Glinda the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West. The musical features hit songs like "Popular," "For Good," and "Defying Gravity." Schwartz's additional credits include Pippin, Godspell, and more.
