Sorkin is nominated for the Academy Award for his screenplay for The Social Network, which is about the founding of the social media site Facebook. The film received a total of eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. His work on the film has already won him numerous honors, including the Golden Globe, Writers Guild of America Award and the Scripter Award.

Sorkin is the author of the plays A Few Good Men and The Farnsworth Invention and is well known for his work on the television series The West Wing and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.
