Chita Rivera, Debra Monk, Karen Ziemba, and Heidi Blickenstaff will be among the performers at the Vineyard Theatre’s annual gala on March 8 at the Hudson Theater. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

As previously reported, the event will honor Tony Award winning composer John Kander, with Tony Award winner David Hyde Pierce serving as host the fundraising event. The actor will also perform at the gala.

Kander, with partner Fred Ebb, has won Tony Awards for Cabaret, Woman of the Year, and Kiss of the Spiderwoman. In addition, he received a Special Tony Award in 2007 “for 42 years of excellence in advancing the art of the musical theatre.” Among the team’s other scores are Flora, the Red Menace, The Happy Time, Zorba, The Act, The Rink, Steel Pier, and Curtains.

The duo’s musical The Scottsboro Boys will begin previews at the Vineyard on February 12, in anticipation of a March 10 opening. The production will be directed and choreographed by Susan Stroman and will star John Cullum, Colman Domingo, and Brandon Victor Dixon, along with Sean Bradford, Josh Breckenridge, Derrick Cobey, Rodney Hicks, Kendrick Jones, Forrest McClendon, Julius Thomas III, Sharon Washington, Cody Ryan Wise, and Christian White.

Tickets for the entire evening — which includes a 6pm cocktail reception, 7:30pm dinner and 8:30pm Gala performance — range from $500-$1,000 and tables from $5,000-$25,000.
